O indivíduo não apenas vivencia o mundo concreto, sua estrutura cognitiva o faz construir continuamente a malha simbólica que organiza toda sua experiência humana. Construir uma paisagem implica fazer com que um lugar contemplado se expresse: todo lugar é também um espaço elaborado pela cultura e apropriado pela consciência. A natureza não se organiza em paisagens, mas passa a ser vista como paisagem na medida em que esta se estabelece como forma simbólica do diálogo entre o sujeito e a natureza. No planeta (re)visitado por Victor Galvão, nos deparamos com a tensão entre o familiar e o insólito, com um inabitado estranhamente reconhecível. Os panoramas apresentados aqui não nos deixam esquecer que seremos sempre estrangeiros de algum lugar. Haverá sempre algo dissemelhante a nos confrontar e é por meio dele que conseguimos perceber o mundo. Sem este contraste não há vida tangível. ARQUIPÉLAGO Fotografias 35mm 2012–2019 Nas paisagens que compõem Arquipélago, despontam restos de um mundo em desaparição. As imagens são turvas, precisamos atravessá-las para alcançar os espaços que nelas se inscrevem, sob as marcas e manchas da película, sob as camadas às vezes densas dos grãos de prata. São zonas portuárias, periferias industriais, centros urbanos, de onde irrompem guindastes, construções, faróis. Regiões percorridas por Victor Galvão, em viagens realizadas ao longo de cinco anos, por diversas cidades do mundo. Diante dessas paisagens desabitadas, em estado de fragilidade, como diz o artista, produz-se o deslocamento da experiência que conduz a um tempo e espaço outros – possibilidade de evasão, sem que o corpo e o olhar deixem de esbarrar nos vestígios da presença humana.&nbsp; [...] Entre os destroços na paisagem e a espessura da matéria fotográfica, vislumbra-se algo de uma experiência histórica, incerta, não localizável, que condiz com uma temporalidade heterogênea, onde coabitam passado, presente e futuro. Lembremos do Anjo da História de que fala Walter Benjamin: “onde nós vemos uma cadeia de acontecimentos, ele vê uma catástrofe única, que acumula incansavelmente ruína sobre ruína e as dispersa a nossos pés”. O desastre imemorial que nos assombra, como concebe o filósofo, neste tempo saturado de agoras. A film composed from a single contact sheet depicting an industrial landscape, that has its frames sequenced in a fictional narrative centered in a female figure which is recurring in these photographs. She embodies the text shown as subtitle to the images, describing the space as an incongruous and self-destructive superposition of different times. Mas meus pés têm pressa porque errando eu aprendo mais.'Essas duas frases aparecem no final de “Doom”, vídeo de Randolpho Lamonier e Victor Galvão. Sua escrita me chama a atenção pela forma como articulam passado, presente e futuro: não reconhecer o passado não quer dizer ignorá-lo, assim como não acreditar no futuro, não nega que algo está por vir. Na desconfiança entre esses dois extremos, mais vale admitirmos nossa ansiedade e apostar no presente e nos nossos erros. But my feet are in a hurry because by making mistakes, I learn more.' These two sentences appear at the end of Doom, a video by Randolpho Lamonier and Victor Galvão. The words caught my attention due to the way in which they articulate the past, present, and future: not recognizing the past does not mean ignoring it, and not believing in the future does not negate that something is yet to come.
